Westfalcon Farm Boutique: Our Inaugural Run

Westfalcon Farm recently completed its inaugural run in the Unique Boutique and Antiques Tour. A tour where occasional shops open their doors for a few weekends per year to sell their handmade creations and antique treasures. Westfalcon Farm opened up its barn and granary doors to offer for-sale items, and to open the farm history exhibits to the public for the first time.

The Sale

Family and friends came together to create quality products, and worked together to display them in a fun and easy-to-shop way at the new Westfalcon Farm Boutique. We offered beautiful plants in quirky pots,

stylish handmade jewelry, sweet homemade rag dolls and doll beds,

real stone vases of all colors,

funky metal garden sculptures, animal-themed watercolor originals, prints, and greeting cards,

intriguing antiques, fresh Swedish kringles, MN Swede Fish gummy candies, and free hot coffee. But, the people made our first Westfalcon Farm Boutique experience great.

The People

Friends and family stopped by Westfalcon Farm Boutique to support our new adventure, community members came to check out the sale and to chat about the farm history, and we connected with three relatives who we had never met; two of them just happen to live on their original family farms within 10 minutes of Westfalcon Farm. Having people stay and chat for an hour (or three) was not uncommon. We loved it! But, one of my favorite observations during the sale was seeing my daughter turn into a young sales officionado.

My parents asked my daughter if she would be interested in running the coffee, candy, and baked goods table during the sale. She could not wait. My daughter began the first day by sitting at the table, pouring coffee for visitors, and collecting money for the sweet treats. By the end of the day, she was welcoming visitors half-way down the very long driveway to let them know that coffee and sweets were available in the granary after they were done shopping in the barn. We sold out of our sweets every day on that first weekend. My daughter was thrilled! Overall, we were all very happy with how everything went.

“This is a lot more fun than I had anticipated.” said Mom after the first day. On the final day of the sale, Dad said, “These have been the best two weeks of my life.” Our family is very much looking forward to the fall 2019 Unique Boutique and Antiques Tour on September 19th-21st and September 26th-28th.

Thank you to all who came to support us and cheer us on! You made the sale great. Hope to see you in the fall!

My parent’s neighbor and good friend made them just for the sale. Both my kids ended up buying one so that their stuffed animals had somewhere to sleep. πŸ™‚ Thanks for your comment!

You won’t be surprised to hear that the stone vases caught my eye, something to do with all the rocks stacking up around here after rock hounding adventures. I’m going to have to show the hubby!
